Having fun

Howdy!
In this issue: new vocab word, elite Girl Scout Cookie alert and the best album from 2004.
Multiplying hobby happiness
This week, Austin and I were talking about all the efficiencies his family focuses on after recently becoming parents.
In his words, they’re hobbymaxxing.
Taking on activities that simultaneously provide a mix of passions, community, health, family and personal time. There are easy ones: gym, church, clubs, holidays.
But what about the hards ones? Waking up to read alone, meeting new people in a new place or feeling like you HAVE to work instead of WANT to work.
Having the mindset that work is fun, makes it feel more like a hobby.
So now, you can hobbymax all day no matter what’s taking up your time.
What Else
🛋️ New Girl Scout Cooke Alert: Exploremores
Many of us got an email from the Girl Scouts to buy cookies online this year. We ended up getting them the old fashion way: being mercilessly hawked down at in a strip mall.
The brownies sold us on a new flavor, Exploremores which I highly recommend.
🕵🏻♂️ People over Code
Ryan mentioned Jeff Atwood recently so when researching him found this awesome interview for two reasons:
Focuses on collaborating with fun and enjoyable people
It’s only 8 minutes and dense with perspective
🎤 Peak 2004 Music Culture
Fell back into listening to one of my favorite albums from growing up, a HIGHLY prized CD in the collection at the time Collision Course (EP).
It’s a re-recorded mashup between Linkin Park and Jay-Z of their biggest hits which at the time of release had a full behind the scenes DVD, CD and MTV show. Now you can watch most of it on YouTube.
